The Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (FDUL) has partnered with AIMA to establish a direct, streamlined process for legal residency in Portugal. The initiative aims to eliminate systemic bureaucratic delays affecting international students, professors, and researchers.
How it Works:
- Dedicated Document Screening: FDUL provides an internal platform to gather, verify, and pre-instruct all documentation prior to appointments.
- Error-Proof Applications: Applicants arrive at AIMA’s physical counters with fully vetted files, significantly reducing the risk of rejections or processing delays.
- Scope: Applies to both initial residence permit applications and renewals for undergraduate, master’s, PhD students, non-degree courses, visiting faculty, and researchers.
- Rollout: Currently serving approximately 30% of the faculty’s international community (following initial pilot testing with African and Brazilian student associations), with full consolidation planned throughout the academic year.
The Guarida Perspective: Bureaucracy and expired documentation should never stall talent, research, or individual progress. Streamlined pre-validation and direct administrative channels are essential components of both institutional and personal sovereignty.
